Looking Forward to LavaCon

With less than a week to go, the excitement in my head is palpable. I'm going to LavaCon! Not only going, but working there: authoring this blog, creating and publishing a daily newsletter, event photography, and taking head shots. But the excitement isn't so much about the opportunity to do this work--which I love to do--but to be able to be at the conference, in person, being with my peeps and having the opportunity to learn, to network, and to improve my skillset.

And to be clear, the in-person part is the number-one-with-a-bullet part of the experience. Yes, I know that Jack, the LavaCon organizer, offers a remote experience also, and it's fine, but as with work, in person is just orders of magnitude better than remote.

It starts early on Saturday with the pre-conference workshops, when the skies will also darken. Yup, San Diego is in the path of a partial annular solar eclipse that will occur just as the workshops are getting underway. I'll be dropping into several over the course of the day to summarize them for the newsletter and this blog. The ones I'm looking forward to attend include Dawn Stevens' To Move Forward, First Know Where You Are, and Kevin P. Nichols' workshop on enterprise content strategy.

Note that if you downloaded an early conference schedule or program and started planning your weekend, the final schedule at https://lavacon.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/LavaCon-2023-schedule-at-a-glance-100623r.doc.pdf is significantly different.

The actual conference on Sunday starts with a morning that is typical for me: Multiple sessions at the same time that I want to be at, these on ROI and AI. On Monday, I haven't penciled in anything that stands out early, but I'll be having to make choices in the afternoon. And on Tuesday, the conference's final day, some of the best sessions are on the schedule.

I'm looking forward to talking with the many vendors and sponsors as well to find out about some of the latest tools and technologies in our space.

But who I'm looking most forward to seeing in San Diego is you. You and your smiling faces.
